I’ve still been in the gym this week but ive pulled my training right back... having a deload week, tapered week & a couple extra rest days.
A DELOAD is a period of time in which you take things easier in the gym by lifting lighter weights or reducing your training volume & or intensity. Deloads typically last a week and encourage recovery before another period of harder training with heavier loading & or intensity. Even if your body doesn't absolutely need to deload, it's a fantastic idea. The deload will not just assist in muscle recovery but also help injury prevention & improved performance.
Be careful not to overtrain!!! Deload periods, Taper weeks & Rest days are just as important as working out. Working out, especially if you do resistance training, breaks down your body tissues. These times where you pull back in your training allows your muscles, nerves, connective tissue & your bones to rebuild. That’s where the real muscle gains happen.
